Tanya Associated Business Services Achieves World-Class Safety Performance Through Participant ABC STEP Program

Wilmington, Delaware, March 22nd—Tanya Associated Business Services (TABS) today announced it has achieved Participant in Associated Builders and Contractors’ STEP Safety Management System. Founded more than three decades ago, STEP is a proven system that provides the framework to measure, strengthen and build industry-leading safety programs that enable top-performing ABC members to achieve incident rates nearly seven times safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics construction industry average.

I am pleased to share our key safety priorities for 2024, which are aligned with our core value of creating safe and inclusive communities for all.

TABS Key Safety Priorities for 2024

• Implement Project Safety Pre-planning into the following stages of construction projects:
  • Estimate
  • Bid
  • Mobilization
  • Demobilization
• Communicate Project Safety Pre-planning to the project team, including subcontractors.
• Implement New Hire Safety Orientation
• Implement Daily Toolbox Talks on worksites.

We believe that these initiatives will help us to further enhance our safety culture and ensure the well-being of our employees, subcontractors, and the communities in which we work.

STEP participants measure their safety processes and policies on key components through a detailed questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing health and safety programs that reduce jobsite incidents.  

2023 through Present Safety Accomplishments

It’s been a journey, but it has been well worth it. Starting in 2023, our number one priority was to build out safety and promote a culture of well-being within our organization. We are pleased to share the following accomplishments:

• Became a member of ABC Delaware Safety & Health & Wellness Community.
• Completed OSHA training.
• Became a Participant of STEP (Safety Training Evaluation Process).
• Began the design of comprehensive internal safety policies and procedures.
• Began to incorporate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) pricing into our construction project estimate and bid process.

These achievements reflect our commitment to creating a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and stakeholders. We believe that by prioritizing safety, we can foster a positive and productive workplace while also ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

According to ABC’s annual Safety Performance Report, STEP participants, regardless of company size or type of work, can reduce recordable incidents up to 85%, making the best-performing companies 688% safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average. Ratings range from Diamond, the highest, to Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Participant.
