On May 14, 2026, the community of Wilmington gathered to witness a historic turning of the soil. Tanya Associated Business Services (TABS) officially broke ground on its latest residential project, marking a profound milestone for the firm and the local construction industry.
Distinguished Leadership in Attendance
The significance of the ceremony was reflected in the caliber of its attendees. TABS was honored to welcome several key leaders who share a commitment to small business growth and housing development:
- Governor Matt Meyer, who highlighted the project’s impact on community development and the local workforce.
- Mayor John Carney, who was unable to attend due to a conflict but was recognized for his continued support of local enterprise and urban vision for the City of Wilmington.
- Secretary of Labor Lakresha Moultrie, whose department’s dedication to workforce development aligns with the core goals of this project.
The ceremony also saw participation from County Executive Marcus Henry, Director Elliott T. Larkin of Land Use & Planning, and Councilman Coby Owens.
Building the Future through Strategic Workforce Investment
At the heart of the Ogle Avenue project is TABS’ Strategic Workforce Investment initiative. This program transforms the construction site into a real-world classroom, ensuring the economic benefits of development remain within the community.
TABS is proud to partner with Howard High School of Technology, Delaware’s only historically Black Vo-Tech, to engage senior carpentry students in a co-op program. These students will apply their classroom theory directly to the 3,374-square-foot residence under expert supervision. Furthermore, in collaboration with Westend Neighborhood House, TABS is integrating participants from the EAP program to train as Safety Construction Coordinators.
The Build: Foundations for Generational Excellence
