Milestone Achievement Pairs Professional Excellence with the Launch of ‘Building Blocks with TABS™’ Registered Apprenticeship Cohort
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WILMINGTON, DE – September 1, 2026 – Tanya Associated Business Services (TABS), a premier Delaware-based firm specializing in residential development and strategic project management, is proud to announce it has been awarded the New Castle County contract for the Lead Hazard Reduction and Healthy Homes Program. This contract represents a monumental achievement for TABS, a Certified Small Business (SBF), Women, Minority and DBE Firm founded in 2007.
The award signifies a major expansion of TABS’ capacity to support New Castle County’s critical initiative to ensure safe, healthy housing conditions for its residents. Under this program, TABS will provide high-quality environmental remediation, lead hazard identification, and lead-safe renovation services to protect the community from the long-term impacts of lead poisoning.
“Winning this contract is more than a business milestone; it is a testament to our firm’s 19-year commitment to operational excellence and community economic development,” said Tanya Williamson, Founder and Managing Director of TABS. “We are honored to partner with New Castle County to ‘get the lead out’ and create safer environments for our most vulnerable populations”.
The Next Generation of Leadership: Building Blocks with TABS™
Central to this achievement is the official launch of the ‘Building Blocks with TABS™’ Registered Apprenticeship Program’s first cohort. Launched on August 24, 2026, this inaugural cohort consists of 10 Senior High School Carpentry students from Howard High School of Technology. The initiative integrates workforce development directly into high-stakes government contracting by immersing students in real-time new construction projects.
This initiative aligns with Governor Matt Meyer’s Executive Order #22, which focuses on continuing Delaware’s commitment to supplier diversity initiatives by creating and expanding opportunities for diverse businesses, small business, and microbusiness enterprises, while scaling into government contracting. Furthermore, it directly advances Executive Order #1, signed on January 21, 2025, which reinforces the state’s commitment to expanding youth apprenticeship and ‘Earn-and-Learn’ opportunities.
In a powerful demonstration of the program’s impact, 4 of these 10 students worked directly alongside Founder Tanya Williamson over the summer to gather data, draft technical requirements, and finalize the winning proposal submission. This hands-on experience provided these emerging professionals with an unprecedented look into the complexities of government procurement and strategic business growth.
Crucially, their contributions extend far beyond this single project; by assisting in the drafting of these technical requirements, they have helped secure a sustainable project pipeline, effectively establishing future work opportunities for their incoming peers for the next four years.
This cohort does more than observe; they are active participants in TABS’ operational growth. By embedding our apprentices into the RFP process, we are not just training them for the future—we are scaling our capacity in real-time. This apprenticeship model proves that when certified diverse firms are given opportunities, they multiply that impact by training the very workforce that will sustain Delaware’s economic future.
Commitment to Safety and Compliance
TABS brings a robust infrastructure of technical expertise to the Lead Hazard Reduction and Healthy Homes Program. The firm and its leadership are fully RRP (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) Certified, and TABS recently passed a mandatory three-year Healthy Homes & Lead Poisoning Prevention audit with the State of Delaware. This commitment to safety is further evidenced by TABS receiving the 2025 National Associated Builders & Contractors STEP Management Safety “Diamond Award”.
The contract enables TABS to leverage its project delivery model—utilizing a blend of expert in-house leadership and strategic trade partnerships—to execute lead-safe renovations and post-remediation repairs across New Castle County.
